Supermodel Cindy Crawford’s former Malibu beach compound goes on sale for £82.5m
A private Malibu compound once home to supermodel Cindy Crawford has gone on the market for £82.5 million.
Described as a “beachside oasis”, it is set in three acres of manicured grounds, above the expansive white sands of El Sol beach in LA.
The 7,450 sq ft property has its own tennis courts, gym, pool, spa and media room.
Set over two storeys, the main floor of the four-bedroom, six-bathroom property comprises a living room, den, dining area and gourmet kitchen.
Upstairs is the master suite, with a private sitting area, dual spa-style bathrooms and a walk-in wardrobe.
Highlights include the deck encircling the whole house, with a fire pit facing the ocean. The villa looks out over the Pacific, offering panoramic sea views – as well as direct access to the beach.
The house has “a fabulous indoor/outdoor flow” to make the best of the LA sunshine, with floor to ceiling sliding glass doors in the house and a cabana with a fireplace by the pool outside, according to Hamptons.
Crawford and her husband, the US entertainment businessman and former model Rande Gerber, sold the property for £33.9 million in 2018 — less than half the price it is now listed for.
It was bought by retired hedge fund manager Adam Weiss and his wife, the actress Barret Swatek, who starred in Yellowstone.
Weiss and Swatek renovated the house completely after they bought it, styling the property in clean, muted colours.
Its tiled floors, white walls, terracotta clay-tiled roof and arched windows give the villa a Mediterranean feel.
Once dubbed “public sand, but a private playground” by the LA Times because of its lack of public access, El Sol beach is also home to former Disney chairman and CEO Michael Eisner, whose family compound was listed for sale in April for a record price of $225 million.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Crawford was one of the world’s most successful supermodels, alongside Christy Thurlington, Naomi Campbell, Tatjana Patitz and Linda Evangelista, who were all featured together on the cover of British Vogue in January 1990.
Throughout her career, she has made hundreds of magazine and catwalk appearances, including for Chanel, Christian Dior and Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Calvin Klein.
Since finishing her modelling career publicly in 2000, Crawford has had two children, co-authored a book about her life and career, Becoming, and launched her own line of beauty products.
Crawford and Gerber own several other properties, including a desert getaway in Coachella Valley, California, a lake house in Ontario, Canada, and a waterfront house on Miami Beach.
The property is listed for £82,561,000 through Hamptons in partnership with Jade Mills.
